The Wausau School District celebrates this Earth Day with a special dedication of the area's first outdoor renewable energy learning center.
When it comes to renewable energy, Wausau East is on top of the game. Last year they installed one of the first Northwind 100 turbines in the state. Then they launched Public View; a special webpage allowing students to see exactly how much energy the turbines produce.
In a special ceremony students, teachers and Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton celebrate this Earth Day with a dedication of the area's first outdoor renewable energy learning center.
Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton says, "What they're doing is creating an opportunity to change the way that children learn and think that they have access to real world data to analyze to see how to take the next step."
All the hard work of the past two years coming together to create one large outdoor classroom.
