And William Mitchell, recently appointed director of Scottish company, 3R Energy Solutions, agrees.
Last month, he visited the headquarters and manufacturing facility of Northern Power Systems in Vermont, USA, 3R’s American development partner which supplies its flagship wind turbine, the Northern Power 100.
"NPS has established itself as a leader in the growing wind market in the United States and we were very impressed by what we saw and heard," said William.
"They have more than 100 satisfied clients who have invested in the Northern Power 100 turbine, many of whom are farmers and rural businesses and NPS’s cutting-edge technology is providing them with real cost savings, emissions reductions and energy security."
William’s family has been farming at Hazelside, in Lanarkshire, for five generations and, with his experience of working a farm which has had several wind turbines in situ for the past 16 years, is well-placed to appreciate the energy needs of Scottish farms today.
