Northern Power Systems has been delivering innovative wind energy solutions in a changing landscape for over 30 years. From Alaska to Malaysia, our installed base of turbines has logged millions of kilowatt-hours of energy production, demonstrating our commitment to performance and reliability.
The company’s next generation wind turbine technology is based on a vastly simplified architecture that utilizes a unique combination of a permanent magnet generator and direct-drive design. This revolutionary approach delivers higher energy capture, improves availability, eliminates drive-train noise, and significantly reduces maintenance costs. The company currently manufactures the Northern Power™ 100 turbine, designed specifically for community wind applications such as schools/universities, businesses, commercial farms, and municipalities. In March, 2011, the company launched the Northern Power 2.3 designed for onshore utility wind applications.
